Since February 1st 2006, MP3-creation adopts a pricing scale taking into account not only the duration of the musical tracks but also the oldness of the albums present in the catalogue.

Basic pricing is calculated from a price (euros)/duration (min) ratio of 1/6.

This basis is much fairer for our customers and distinguishes itself from the pricing scale currently applied on the biggest music download platforms. We estimate that the most used pricing policy consisting in selling items by units (independently of their time length) is not relevant for the consumers as it overprices the most popular pieces of the musical repertoire (including the oldest creations at a same rate) while undermining the works from the jazz and classical repertoire. This pricing relies on an objective criterion of musical consumption (the time and not the unit) and seems to us much more respectful of our customers. It has been approved by Thierry Cassagneau in order to better serve your expectations.

In addition, a 30% rebate is applied to albums released 3 years ago and beyond. A 10% rebate is applied to albums released less than 3 years ago and one year ago at least. As for the basic pricing (without rebate), it will be applied to any albums created less than a year from the date it is released in the catalogue; in order to better ensure the profitability of the investments engaged in producing new creations. Concretely, this implies that our prices lower by about 20 % on the whole catalogue.

Or course, during our sales promotion (partial or full), the above rebate will continue to apply concomitantly to the special offers. Prices will be displayed as follows: crossed price before promotion with uncrossed price after promotion.

Besides, to enable each visitor to better evaluate the application and evolution of these rebates, we also display in the page dedicated to an album a pricing scale ranging from A to C: scale A applies for new releases (full rate), scale B when a 10% rebate is applied and scale C when this rebate reaches 30% .
